Services for Shirleann Simon, 64, owner of an Arlington Heights children's boutique, will be at 2 p.m. today at Weinstein Brothers Memorial Chapel, 111 Skokie Blvd., Skokie. Burial will be in Shalom Memorial Park, Rand Road and Illinois 53, Palatine.

Mrs. Simon died of brain cancer Monday at Claremont Rehabilitation & Living Center, Buffalo Grove.

She owned the Toe the Line shop in Town and Country Center at Rand and Palatine roads. For 12 years, she focused on dance and ice skating apparel for children, while also selling boutique-type clothing.

"She had a great rapport with all her customers, who became her friends," said her daughter, Sheri Simon-Cupkovic.

Mrs. Simon founded the store in 1983 in the Oak-Mill Mall in Skokie but moved it to Arlington Heights six years ago.

She learned the business after working for another children's store. She also taught high school English and history in Niles as a substitute.

A native Chicagoan, Mrs. Simon graduated from Senn High School. She received a degree in history from Roosevelt University.

Mrs. Simon lived in Skokie while raising her family and moved to Buffalo Grove eight years ago.

Besides her daughter, survivors include her husband, Shirwin; another daughter, Francine Felske, and two grandchildren.
